You will find that you can add a real punch of colour by painting just one wall in a room.  This will really change the focal point without getting into a major decorating project and make the room look more interesting; you can zone different areas, change the proportions of a space or simply make it look even more beautiful.  An empty nook or alcove could be the perfect spot and accent walls can work just as well in a neutral.
